running away from knowledge

A drawing i finished off a couple of months back. It was a dream that i saw meaning behind, in that books are being disowned by society.

Father 2

This is the second portrait of my father, Simon Whitmore, half lit. Done in oils onto primed hardboard, size is about 20 by 14 inches.

Still life

A medium sized (about 24x18") painting done in acrylic. Basic still life composition with the ripe mango as the focal point, contrasted with the relatively cold colours around it to really try and make it stand out. Done in two sittings over a period of about 5 hours.

Life drawing interior

A painting started at life drawing class late last year. Just dragged it out to finish it off today, still im not really sure if it is. We'll see.

Acrylic on canvas. 15.5 inches squared.

Spanish Street 2

A painting done of a scene in spain, using a picture my father took for reference.

Simple done in watercolor on paper, using masking tape to leave out necessary highlights where possible. Thanks for looking.

Self portraits.

For a while now I've been trying my hand at self portraits, only to find that I hate them and end up either throwing them in the bin or painting over them. Anyway here are two that didnt end up painted over, the below view done in acrylic on a large scale (for me), and the small one done in oil.

Uncle

Watercolor of my fathers brother done in the same medium as David, and the same size. I found it difficult to subtly highlight his features under the shadow of his large cowboy style hat, but overall I am quite pleased with the piece.
